Red Light, Green Light

Navigating Life's Pauses
We've all been there - sitting at life's metaphorical red light, eager for it to turn green, wondering why our external reality doesn't match our internal growth. It's a test of patience that often feels endless but can be an opportunity if we are willing to see it that way.
When I first embarked on my spiritual journey and became an energy practitioner, I was ready to jump all in and leave my career in Venture Capital. I had visions of helping others align with their highest selves. I built a website, put myself out there, and waited for the floodgates of clients to open. But, to my surprise (and frustration), that didn’t happen - at least, not right away.
Divine Timing
In hindsight, I realize why things didn’t unfold as quickly as I had hoped. Sure, I was eager and passionate, but there was more groundwork to be done within myself. I needed training & energy transmissions, more lived experiences, and greater healing of my own. I had to confront and release inherited emotions, limiting subconscious beliefs, past-life traumas about stepping into my gifts, and deep-rooted fears of judgment. I had to be knocked down and get up from the floor time and time again before the Universe would hand over the keys to what my heart already knew it wanted to do.
It’s been an intense and humbling journey, to say the least.
I remember how frustrated I would get. “I know where I am going, I am doing the inner work, making fundamental internal shifts… why is it taking so long? Why isn't anything in my outer reality changing?”
And then, things did start to shift, but the time in between felt like lifetimes.
Tests of Faith
Life doesn’t always give instant results. During the slower moments or moments of “waiting,” it’s easy to feel like we’re failing or doing something wrong. I remember questioning everything: “Am I really on the right path? Did I make a mistake?" But looking back, I see that those red lights were needed. The Universe wasn’t blocking me; it was preparing me. It taught me to trust without needing immediate validation, to move forward even when the path wasn’t clear.
It felt like a true test of faith from the Universe, “How badly do you want it? Are you willing to trust when you see no outer signs? To keep going when there is no concrete evidence that you can hold onto that this is the way?”
Life is full of red lights and green lights. And while it’s tempting to shout at the red light to hurry up and turn green, sometimes the pause is precisely what we need.
It can be an extremely challenging place to be when you are stuck between your old self and your new self is still forming (not speaking of the bigger Self, which of course is unchanging, the multidimensional part of you), but the part here in the world, acting in the play.
The Magic of Divine Timing
It can also be challenging when you have green lights that suddenly change to red; it can quite honestly feel like the wind knocked out of your sails. You can question: “Am I going backward? Did I get this wrong?” Not necessarily. We are cyclical beings and everything comes and goes in its own time. It is divine timing, after all, not OUR timing.
The Universe is always pulling strings behind the scenes, lining things up for us. We, however, cannot see what is being lined up or how long it will take. We don’t get to see the magician’s magic behind the trick; we just see the results.
Here’s the thing: we don’t get to see the magician’s trick as it’s being set up. We experience the reveal when the time is right. Our job isn’t to micromanage the timing but to trust it.
Patience has never been my strong suit. In fact, it’s probably the one word I struggle with the most. Honestly, I should get it tattooed on my arm just for the reminder. But with each red light, I’m learning. I’m learning that the pauses in life aren’t setbacks; they’re opportunities for growth, healing, and recalibration. We are all works in progress in this Earth school, perfectly complete, just as we are.
Embracing the Red Lights
In summary, enjoy the time if you are at a red light; it will turn green soon enough. And when it does, you’ll be ready in ways you can’t even imagine right now. Trust in the timing of the Universe, that it is aligning everything perfectly, even if you can’t see it, and go easy on yourself on the time in-between. Use it to rest, reflect, learn, heal, and pivot if you need to; just know that the light always turns green, even if some red lights take longer than others.
And P.S. Don’t worry… when you update your inner landscape and heal, your outer reality will change… it just may take some time.
